2024 has been an absolutely amazing year! We were able to finish 3 does and get a leg each on 2 of our bucks as well as several of our junior does! We also took 22 goats to the 2024 ADGA National Show in Louisville, KY. All but 3 placed, we had three 1st place does, two 1st Udders, GCH Ober-Ridge Advance was awarded High Lifetime Milk, and our herd was awarded Oberhasli Premier Exhibitor!
Our Linear Appraisal Session was 2 weeks after we returned home from Kentucky, where we had 5 animals appraise 90 or 91! One of our homebred bucks in another herd also appraised 90! Also in another herd, a doe we bred finished her permanent championship, another is one win away, and at least one of the doelings we sold this spring has also earned her restricted leg. Thank you to all our friends and family who have assisted us with this endeavor this year! A big thank you goes out to those who have our animals and are managing them so well and putting their best foot forward! It is the best to see our animals not only doing well in our herd, but also in others! Please let us know if you would like to add a Half Barn Farm animal to your herd! |
Half Barn Farm got its start in 2016 when we purchased 3 bred does as well as the buck to whom they were bred. That Spring, those three does had five bucklings between them. Fast forward a year, and those same does and buck gave us 5 beautiful doelings. Along with the ones we have chosen to keep, we have added a few from nationally known herds outside of our region. Nate and Jen Funk met through the 4-H Dairy Goat Program, a program near and dear to our hearts. We would like to have projects our children can also be involved with and the goats are a good size and very sweet.
We perform annual CAE testing and Bi-annual CL/Johnes testing.
Our goals with our dairy goats are to have animals that are easy going, structurally sound and that produce a good amount of milk.
